With only a few weeks left to go until the Commonwealth Games come to Birmingham, the children have completed a commonwealth project in class.

The children learnt that the commonwealth was originally linked to the our countries colonial past, when the British Empire took charge of many places around the globe. Nowadays any country may apply to be part of the commonwealth, they do not have to be linked to the old British Empire.

Each class learnt about a commonwealth country. The lessons that took place across the school linked to the curriculum in different ways. Can you spot which countries were being celebrated from the images below?

Pupils were also invited to get creative at home, creating art work to represent different commonwealth countries.
