This afternoon, Year 5 enjoyed taking part in their Design Technology lesson outside. The sun may not have been shining but the children’s happy, determined faces lit up the sky.
The children were asked to bring in some resources from home as well as collecting natural materials in our outdoor learning space. They needed to think carefully about the shape and size of their dens, how to piece their materials together as well as how to join them successfully. This kind of task would have been impossible to complete alone, thankfully the children worked collaboratively with their peers, listening to and supporting each other, and soon saw that working together as a team led to successful dens being created. In DT, it is important that the children are reflective and apply their problem solving skills to improve their designs and over come any challenges, this is something we saw the children actively doing today and it was fantastic. The children enjoyed this activity so much they were sad when the lesson was over.
We think their dens are marvellous, what do you think?
