Today we were treated to the first violin concert to grace our school in years and it was marvellous.
When pupils reach Key Stage Two, they are given the opportunity to begin violin lessons. The children then have lessons, which are led by the Birmingham Music Service and their talented staff, each week. The children learn about how to hold their instruments, hand positioning and how to use the bow. Our dedicated pupils then practise at home and each week we are able to see such wonderful improvements.
The concert was made up of Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 pupils. They hid any nerves and played to the very best of their ability and we felt so proud. Some of these pupils have even been awarded the bronze music medal. What a fantastic achievement.
